Reliability and accuracy of software is an issue of great importance. Therefore, the effective development of reliable software within an available time frame and budget represents an enormous challenge. Using various models, this book attempts to quantify the reliability of software already during the development process and to use the obtained information to detect errors and correct them early. In total, the effort and cost of development can be reduced. Several ways are shown in which the terms ``reliability'', ``error'' and ``failure'' can be defined with respect to software. Software metrics and fuzzy logic models for the prediction of failures are developed and explained with practical examples.
