In this paper, the authors prove some strong convergence theorems for the solution of a fixed point problem related to a nonexpnsive semigroup of operators and a system of equilibrium problems and variational inequality problems in Hilbert spaces. The method involves the viscosity approximation approach for Meir-Keeler contractions, using the \(L\)-function approach proposed by \textit{T.-C. Lim} [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl., Ser. A, Theory Methods 46, No. 1, 113--120 (2001; Zbl 1009.54044)].
