The paper is devoted to Lipschitz free spaces over metric spaces. Such spaces are also known as Arens-Eells spaces, sometimes these spaces are attributed to Kantorovich and Rubinstein. The paper is devoted to the study of approximation properties of Lipschitz free spaces initiated in [\textit{G. Godefroy} and \textit{N. J. Kalton}, Stud. Math. 159, No. 1, 121--141 (2003; Zbl 1059.46058)]. The authors prove that the Lipschitz free space over a doubling metric space has the bounded approximation property. Actually, they prove a more general result stating that the Lipschitz free space over metric spaces admitting certain gentle partitions of unity in the sense of \textit{J. R. Lee} and \textit{A. Naor} [Invent. Math. 160, No. 1, 59--95 (2005; Zbl 1074.46004)] has the bounded approximation property. The second main result of the paper is that the Lipschitz free spaces over \(\ell_1^n\) or \(\ell_1\) have monotone finite-dimensional Schauder decompositions.
