Mappings \(T: K\to X\) with \(X\) a complete metric space and \(K\) a nonempty closed subset of \(X\) are considered under some Kannan type contraction condition. Under a number of additional assumptions (a little sophisticated and not simple to verify), the authors present a result on the existence and uniqueness of the fixed point \(x\) from \(K\) of \(T\). There is also result about some kind of stability of the special sequence of iterates.
