Suppose that \(f:M\to M\) is a volume-preserving diffeomorphism on a closed \(C^\infty\)-manifold \(M\). Given a closed invariant set \(\Lambda\subseteq M\), \(f\) is said to have the orbital shadowing property, if for every \(\epsilon>0\) there exists \(\delta>0\) such that for every \(\delta\)-pseudo orbit \(\xi=(x_i)_{i\in{\mathbb Z}}\) in \(\Lambda\) there exists \(y\in M\) such that \(O(y)\subseteq B_\epsilon(\xi)\) and \(\xi\subseteq B_\epsilon(O(y))\). It is shown that the property of \(f\) being Anosov can be characterized by the fact that \(f\) belongs to the \(C^1\)-interior of the set of volume-preserving diffeomorphisms with orbital shadowing.
