    In this paper, all topological spaces are assumed to be Hausdorff. A paratopological group is a group with a topology such that the product operation is continuous. The paper contains two results: {\parindent=6mm \begin{itemize}\item[(1)] Let \(G\) be a paratopological group, \(bG\) a Hausdorff compactification of \(G\). We call \(bG\setminus G\) a remainder of \(G\). The authors prove that, if \(G\) is non-locally compact and every compact subset of \(G\) is first countable, and a remainder of \(G\) has a \(G_\delta\)-diagonal, then \(G\) has a \(G_\delta\)-diagonal of infinite rank. This result improves a result on Abelian groups by \textit{C. Liu} and \textit{S. Lin} [Topology Appl. 157, No. 12, 1966--1974 (2010; Zbl 1194.54038)]. \item[(2)] The authors give an example of a non-metrizable paratopological group \(G\) and an open continuous homomorphism \(f\) of \(G\) onto a metrizable topological group \(H\) such that the kernel of \(f\) is metrizable. \end{itemize}}
