The global existence of classical solutions for small and decaying initial data, under hypotheses of weak linear degeneracy and weak strict hyperbolicity is proved for the following Cauchy problem: \[ \frac{\partial u}{\partial t}+\sum_{\alpha=1}^{N}A^{\alpha}(u)\frac{\partial u}{\partial x^{\alpha}}=F(u), x\in\mathbb R^N, \, t\geq 0, \] \[ u=u_{0}(x), x\in\mathbb R^N,\, t=0. \] By hyperbolicity, for any given \(\omega=(\omega^1,\dots ,\omega^N)^T\in S^{N-1}\), the matrix \[ A(u,\omega)=\sum_{\alpha=1}^NA^\alpha (u)\omega^\alpha \] has \(n\) distinct real eigenvalues \(\lambda_k(u,\omega )\) and a complete set of left (resp. right) eigenvectors \(l_k(u,\omega)=(l_{k1}(u,\omega),\dots ,l_{kn}(u,\omega))\) (resp. \(r_k(u,\omega)=(r_{1k}(u,\omega),\dots ,r_{nk}(u,\omega))^T\)) with the assumption that \(\lambda_k(u,\omega)\), \(l_k(u,\omega)\) and \(r_k(u,\omega)\) are suitable smooth for with respect to \(u\) and \(\omega \in \mathcal{S}^{N-1}\). It is proved that for any given \(\mu>0\) there exists a constant \(\theta_0>0\) such that for any given \(H^s(s>\frac{N}{2}+1)\) initial data \(u_0\) satisfying \[ \sup \{(1+x)^{1+\mu}(| u_0(x)| +|\nabla_xu_0(x)|)\}\leq \theta_0, \] the Cauchy problem admits a unique global classical solution, where \(\|\cdot\|\) stands for the Euclidean norm in \(\mathbb R^n\).
