The authors study triangulations of a domain that admit local enlargements such that the obtained triangulations remain correct. Using such a triangulation and its enlargement they deduce relations for the Courant coordinate functions and embeddings of the corresponding spaces. They propose adaptive spline-wavelet decompositions and infer the corresponding decomposition and reconstruction formulas for 2-dimensional numerical flows.
