In [``A splitting Theorem for extremal Kähler metrics'', J. Geom. Anal. 2013 (2013; \url{doi:10.1007/s12220-013-9417-6})] \textit{V. Apostolov} and the author of the paper consider a splitting problem for extremal Kähler metrics. Given a product of Kähler manifolds \((X_1\times X_2,[\omega_1]+[\omega_2] )\) with extremal Kähler metric \(\omega\in [\omega_1]+[\omega_2]\), is \(\omega\) necessarily a product of extremal metrics? In this paper, the author uses the Calabi flow to show that this is indeed the case on products of toric Kähler manifolds.
