The authors prove a more or less standard result on the \(L^1\)-convergence of double trigonometric series but for a wider class of the sequence of coefficients. They claim that this is a generalization of one result due to \textit{F. Móricz} [Acta Math. Hung. 69, No. 1-2, 99--110 (1995; Zbl 0902.42005)]. Their second (and the last) reference is a paper, in Chinese, of the second named author on generalized monotonicity. However, the latter matter is widely referred in the paper of \textit{S. Tikhonov} and the reviewer [Math. Nachr. 284, No. 8-9, 1083--1098 (2011; Zbl 1223.26017)]. The first reference is one of the simplest in its range, a generalization, in turn, of one of the simplest and oldest one-dimensional results. However, numerous more general publications, both in dimension one and in several dimensions have appeared during last decades. Among the most recent and multidimensional the following two deserve to be referred to and to be compared with the obtained results: \textit{M. Dyachenko} and \textit{S. Tikhonov} [C. R., Math., Acad. Sci. Paris 345, No. 3, 123--126 (2007; Zbl 1141.42004)] and \textit{P. Kórus} [Acta Math. Hung. 128, No. 4, 369--380 (2010; Zbl 1240.42015)].
