Soc. 329, 755-772 (1992); see the preceding review.] The author computes for cofinite subgroups of \(PSL(2,\mathbb{R})\) which may contain elliptic elements the determinant of the Laplacian in terms of the Selberg zeta function. This was done for torsion-free cofinite subgroups of \(PSL(2,\mathbb{R})\) by \textit{I. Efrat} [Commun. Math. Phys. 119, 443-451 (1988; Zbl 0661.10038)], and for congruence subgroups by the author himself in the first part of his notes [see Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 324, 149-168 (1991; Zbl 0726.11036)].
