Let \(\mathcal{H}\) and \(\mathcal{K}\) be separable Hilbert spaces and \(\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{K}, \mathcal{H})\) denote the set of all bounded linear operators from \(\mathcal{K}\) to \(\mathcal{H}\). Let \(M_{C}\) be the upper-triangular matrix defined on \(\mathcal{H}\oplus\mathcal{K}\). For given operators \(A\in\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{H})\) and \(B\in\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{K})\), the author describes the set of all \(C\in\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{K}, \mathcal{H})\) such that \(M_{C}\) is injective, the range of \(M_{C}\) is not dense in \(\mathcal{H}\oplus\mathcal{K}\), \(\lambda\in\sigma_{r}(M_{C})\) and \(\lambda\in\sigma_{c}(M_{C})\) for some scalar \(\lambda\), where \(\sigma_{r}(.)\) is the residual spectrum and \(\sigma_{c}(.)\) is the continuous spectrum. As a consequence, she gives a characterization of \(\bigcap_{C\in\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{K}, \mathcal{H})}\sigma_{p}(M_{C})\), \(\bigcap_{C\in\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{K}, \mathcal{H})}\sigma_{r}(M_{C})\) and \(\bigcap_{C\in\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{K}, \mathcal{H})}\sigma_{c}(M_{C})\), where \(\sigma_{p}(.)\) is the point spectrum. The obtained results improve the ones given by \textit{G.-J. Hai} and \textit{Alatancang} in [``The residual spectrum and the continuous spectrum of upper triangular operator matrices'', Filomat 28, No. 1, 65--71 (2014; \url{doi:10.2298/FIL1401065H})].
