Let \(G\) be a bounded simply connected domain and \(\Gamma=\partial G\) be its boundary. Suppose that \(\Phi\) is the conformal map \(\Omega:=\overline{{\mathbb C}}\setminus \overline{G}\to\Delta:=\{w:|w|>1\}\) and \(\Psi=\Phi^{-1}:\Delta\to\Omega\) is the inverse conformal map. Then \(\Psi(w)=bw+b_0+b_1w^{-1}+b_2w^{-2}+\dots\) for \(|w|>1\), where \(b\) is equal to the logarithmic capacity of \(\Gamma\). Let \(\{p_n\}_{n=0}^\infty\) denote the sequence of the Bergman polynomials of \(G\) and \(b_{kj}=\int_G zp_j(z)\overline{p_k(z)}\, dA(z)\). It is shown that \(\lim_{n\to\infty}b_{n+1,n}=b\) and \(\lim_{n\to\infty}b_{n-k,n}=b_k\) for \(k=0,1,2,\dots\). The speed of convergence in these equalities depends on the smoothness of \(\Gamma\). To state a sample result, denote by \(C(q,\alpha)\) with \(q\in{\mathbb N}\), \(\alpha\in(0,1)\), the collection of all curves \(\Gamma\) defined by \(z=g(s)\), where \(s\) denotes the arc length, with \(g^{(q)}\in \text{Lip}\,\alpha\). Among other asymptotic formulas, it is proved that, if \(\Gamma\in C(p+1,\alpha)\) with \(p+\alpha>1/2\), then \((n+2)^{1/2}(n+1)^{-1/2}b_{n+1,n}=b+O(n^{-2(p+\alpha)})\) and \((n-k+1)^{1/2}(n+1)^{-1/2}b_{n-k,n}=b_k+O(n^{-p-\alpha})\) for \(k=0,1,2,\dots\) as \(n\to\infty\), where \(O(\cdot)\) depends on \(k\). As an application of the obtained results, an algorithm for recovering the shape of \(G\) from its area moments is described.
