In [\textit{P. Łuszcz-Świdecka} and \textit{D. Schmitz}, J. Algebra 414, 159--174 (2014; Zbl 1304.14013)], the Okounkov body of any divisor on a smooth surface with rational polyhedral pseudoeffective cone is decomposed as a Minkowski sum of Okounkov bodies of a particular finite set of divisors. This finite set is called a \textit{Minkowski basis} of \(X\) and is denoted by MB\((x,C)\), being \(x \in C \subset X\) the flag chosen to construct the Okounkov bodies. It is a natural question that of the cardinality of MB\((x,C)\). The main result of this paper (see Theorem 3.3) states that if \(C\) is an ample curve and \(x\) a smooth point on \(C\) then the cardinal of MB\((x,C)\) is \(1+\)NnB\((X)\)+Zar\((X)\) where: NnB\((X)\) is the number of numerical classes of nef and non-big integral divisors in \(\{D \in \)Nef\((X):D\cdot H=1\}\) for \(H\) a fixed ample divisor on \(X\); and Zar\((X)\) is the number of Zariski chambers in the BKS-decomposition of the big cone of \(X\) (some details on this decomposition in Theorem 2.6). Some explicit computations on Del Pezzo surfaces are provided.
