The authors prove that several infinite families of panelled web \(4\)-manifolds, constructed by Akbulut and the first author in [``Topology of non-simply connected LCF \(4\)-manifolds'', \url{arXiv:0807.0837}], are almost complex but neither symplectic nor complex manifolds via analyzing their Betti numbers, signature numbers, Euler numbers and other characteristic numbers. The authors use the topological criterion of Wu Wen-Tsun to prove they are almost complex manifolds. The authors observe that the intersection forms of these \(4\)-manifolds are even, hence they are minimal in both senses when they are symplectic or complex. If they are symplectic then they must be rational or ruled since it is easy to find their Kodaira dimension is \(-\infty\). However they are not simply-conneced and hence they are not symplectic manifolds. The authors use the classification results of compact complex surfaces of Kodaira to rule out the possibility that they are complex.
