Geometric flows are fundamental tools of Riemannian geometry and topology of manifolds. For instance, the Ricci flow is one of the main ingredients in the proof of the Poincaré conjecture and Hamilton's uniformization theorem. In this context, the authors of the paper under review prove that the first eigenvalue of the \(p\)-Laplacian and the Yamabe invariant on compact Riemannian manifolds are both locally Lipschitz along some geometric flows. More precisely, the following theorem is proved. Theorem. Let \(g(x,t)\) be a \(C^{1}\) family of smooth metrics on an \(n\)-dimensional compact Riemannian manifold \(M\). Then the first eigenvalue \(\lambda_{1,p}(g(t))\) of the \(p\)-Laplacian is locally Lipschitz if \(p\geq 2\) and \(M\) is closed, or if \(p>1\) and \(M\) has a non empty boundary. They also prove that the Yamabe invariant is directionnally differentiable along geometric flows. To prove their results, the authors establish first a precise relationship between local Lipschitz property of continuous functions and their Dini derivatives.
