Let \(R\) be a commutative ring and \(M\) a unitary \(R\)-module. \textit{B. Bernard} [J. Algebra 71, 174--178 (1981; Zbl 0468.13011)] introduced the concept of multiplication modules where \(M\) is called a multiplication module if, for every submodule \(N\) of \(M\), \(N = IM\) for some ideal \(I\) of \(R\). In the paper under review, the author firstly investigates multiplication, flat and projective modules. [\textit{F. Kash}, Modules and Rings. London Mathematical Society Monographs, No. 17. London-New York etc.: Academic Press. (1982; Zbl 0523.16001)] defined \(M\) to be a von Neumann regular module if every cyclic submodule of \(M\) is a direct summand of \(M\). The \(R\)-module \(M\) is called an \(F\)-module if all submodules of \(M\) are flat, and it is called an \(FGP\)-module provided that all finitely generated submodules of \(M\) are projective. Among the other results it is shown that, if \(M\) is a finitely generated faithful multiplication \(R\)-module, then \(M\) is an \(F\)-module if and only if \(M_P\) is a valuation module for each prime ideal \(P\) of \(R\) and that \(M\) is an \(FGP\)-module if and only if \(M_P\) is a valuation module for each prime ideal \(P\) of \(R\) and and \(M_S\) is a von Neumann regular \(R_S\)-module, where \(S\) is the set of all non-zero divisors of \(R\).
