Extremal solutions of fourth-order boundary value problems (Q414039)

The authors study properties of extremal solutions to the boundary value problem \[ x^{(n)}= f(t),\quad |f|\leq g,\quad \ell_i x= 0\;(i= 1,\dotsc, n), \] where \(f \in L(I,\mathbb{R})\), \(I= [0,1]\), \(g\) is fixed, and either \(\ell_ix= x^{(m_i)}(0)\) or \(\ell_ix= x^{(m_i)}(1)\), \(0\leq m_i\leq n-1\) \((i= 1,\dotsc, n)\). The authors consider in detail the case \(n= 4\). The present paper is a continuation of the paper by the authors [Differ. Equ. 47, No. 2, 166--172 (2011); translation from Differ. Uravn. 47, No. 2, 168--174 (2011; Zbl 1235.34067)].
