The paper deals with uniform bounds for the solutions of non-uniformly parabolic equations in highly heterogeneous media. The media considered are periodic and consist of a connected high permeability sub-region and a disconnected matrix block subset with low permeability. To each medium a positive number \(\varepsilon\) is associated, which stands for the size ratio of matrix blocks to the whole domain of the medium. Assuming the permeability ratio of the matrix block subset to the connected high permeability sub-region to be of order \(\varepsilon^{2\tau}\) with \(\tau \in (0,1],\) the author proves that the Hölder norm of the solutions is bounded uniformly in terms of \(\varepsilon\) in the connected high permeability sub-region. On the contrary, explicit examples show that the Hölder norm may not be uniformly bounded in the disconnected subset.
