In a bounded smooth domain \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^n\) (\(n\geq 3\)) with negative mean curvature at the origin on the boundary, by using the idea of \textit{H. Brezis} and \textit{L. Nirenberg} [Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 36, 437--477 (1983; Zbl 0541.35029)], the authors of the paper study the existence of minimizers of a general type of Hardy-Sobolev variational problem and generalize the results of \textit{N. Ghoussoub} and \textit{F. Robert} [IMRP, Int. Math. Res. Pap. 2006, No. 3, Article ID 21867, 85 p. (2006; Zbl 1154.35049); Geom. Funct. Anal. 16, No. 6, 1201--1245 (2006; Zbl 1232.35044)]. Furthermore, the authors prove the existence of positive solutions to the elliptic equation involving two different kinds of Hardy-Sobolev critical exponents.
