As the first step towards constructing wavelet bases of the Hilbert space \(L^2(\mathbb A)\) where \(\mathbb A\) is an adele ring, the authors prove that \(L^2(\mathbb A)\) is the infinite tensor product of \(L^2(\mathbb Q_p)\), where \(p\leq \infty\) runs over the set of all prime numbers, and \(\mathbb Q_\infty =\mathbb R\). The construction of the infinite tensor product [\textit{J. von Neumann}, Compos. Math. 6, 1--77 (1938; Zbl 0019.31103); \textit{Yu. M. Berezanskij}, Selfadjoint operators in spaces of functions of infinitely many variables, Providence, R.I.: American Mathematical Society (1986; Zbl 0596.47019)] involves an appropriately chosen stabilizing sequence. Now, to obtain wavelet bases and multiresolution analysis in \(L^2(\mathbb A)\), tensor products of the corresponding real and \(p\)-adic constructions are taken; for the latter see \textit{S. V. Kozyrev} [Izv. Math. 66, No. 2, 367--376 (2002; Zbl 1016.42025)], \textit{A. Yu. Khrennikov, V. M. Shelkovich} and \textit{M. Skopina} [\(p\)-Adic Numbers Ultrametric Anal. Appl. 1, No. 2, 145--156 (2009; Zbl 1187.42033)] and \textit{V. Shelkovich} and \textit{M. Skopina} [Fourier Anal. Appl. 15, No. 3, 366--393 (2009; Zbl 1192.42024)].
