An important problem in the representation theory of \(p\)-adic reductive groups is to obtain explicit character formulae for such groups. One approach to obtain such formulae is to use the Harish-Chandra-Howe local character expansion, which expresses the characters of reductive \(p\)-adic groups in terms of Fourier transforms of nilpotent orbital integrals on their Lie algebras, while the other approach is offered by the Murnaghan-Kirillov theory which expresses many characters of such groups in terms of Fourier transforms of semisimple orbital integrals, also on their Lie algebras. Thus, in order to obtain completely explicit formulae using the mentioned theories, it happens to be necessary to evaluate those Fourier transforms.NEWLINENEWLINEIn the paper under review, the author evaluates Fourier transforms for group the \(\mathrm{SL}(2)\), where the nilpotent orbital integrals have already been computed. In this case, Fourier transforms have been determined using integral formulas and the theory of \(p\)-adic special functions. The main strategy for computing the mentioned Fourier transforms of orbital integrals is to reduce them to \(p\)-adic Bessel functions.
