Let \(N_1\) and \(N_2\) be two normed spaces. Mazur and Ulam proved that every bijective isometry \(T:N_1 \to N_2\) is affine, (i.e., \(T(\frac{f+g}{2})=\frac{T(f)+T(g)}{2}\) holds for each \(f,g \in N_1\).) Using the idea of \textit{A. Vogt} [Stud. Math. 45, 43--48 (1973; Zbl 0222.46015)] a simple proof of this result was given by \textit{J. Väisälä} [Am. Math. Mon. 110, No. 7, 633--635 (2003; Zbl 1046.46017)]. In this paper, the authors introduce a notion of subdistances and metricoid spaces and generalize the Mazur-Ulam theorem. They also give representations for certain isometries from \(C^+(X)\) onto \(C^+(Y)\) which preserve subdistance. Here, \(C^+(K)\) denotes the set of all real-valued continuous functions \(f\) on a compact Hausdorff space \(K\) such that \(f(x)>0\) for every \(x\in K\).
