Motivated by a product defined by Kreck which involves stratified homology, the authors presents a geometric description for the cup product in negatives degrees of Tate cohomology for a finite group with integral coefficients. These products are described as join of cycles which explains the Tate shift in the graded products. It is also shown that for finite groups the cup product in negative Tate cohomology and the Kreck product coincide. (The cup products in negative degrees of Tate cohomology of finite groups with mod \(p\) coefficients were studied by Benson and Carlson. It turns out that these products end up being zero for most groups.)
