The paper considers the equation \[ \partial_tf+v_i\partial_{x_i}f=\varepsilon^{-1}S(f),\quad x=(x_1,x_2,x_3)\in\Omega\subseteq\mathbb{R}^3_x,\quad v=(v_1,v_2,v_3)\in\mathbb{R}^3_v,\quad t\geq 0, \] with respect to the distribution function of the number of particles \(f(v,x,t)\) which means the probability of particle distribution in coordinates \(x\) and velocities \(v\) at the instant time \(t\). Here the operator \(S(f)\) of the interaction of particles has the form \[ S(f)(x,v,t)=Q(f,f)(x,v,t)+\varepsilon\partial x_i \{\alpha(x,t) (u_i(x,t)-v_i) [N[f](x,v,t)-f(x,v,t)]\}, \] where the bilinear operator \(Q(f,f)\) is the integral of collisions, \(\alpha(x,t)\) is the indicator function, \(\varepsilon\) is the dimensionless mean free path of a particle, and the nonlinear operator \(N(f)\) is the Navier-Stokes function related to \(f\). For \(\alpha\equiv 0\) the above equation coincides with the well-known kinetic Boltzmann equation. The authors suggest a domain decomposition method according to which subdomains are chosen in dependence of the dimensionless mean free path \(\varepsilon\). On this basis they derive the kinetic domain decomposition equation allowing one to construct a homogeneous numerical algorithm for solving the Boltzmann equation.
