    For \(i\in \{1,2\}\), let \(f_i(n) \) denote the number of positive integers solutions \((n_1,n_2,n_3)\) of the Erdős-Straus equation \(\frac{4}{n}=\frac{1}{n_1} +\frac{1}{n_2}+\frac{1}{n_3}\), where exactly \(i\) of the denominators \(n_1,n_2\) and \(n_3\) are divisible by \(n\). The author proves the following upper bounds on the average values for prime arguments: \[ \sum_{p \leq x} f_1(p) \ll x (\log x)^5 (\log \log x)^2. \] \[ \sum_{p \leq x} f_2(p) \ll x (\log x)^2 \log \log x. \] While this is some improvement over a first version of a manuscript of \textit{T.~Tao} [``On the number of solutions to \(\frac{4}{p}=\frac{1}{n_1}+\frac{1}{n_2}+\frac{1}{n_3}\)''], a later version [\textit{C. Elsholtz} and \textit{T. Tao}, ``Counting the number of solutions to the Erdős-Straus equation on unit fractions'', \url{http://arxiv.org/abs/1107.1010}] contains an even more precise estimate: \[ x (\log x)^2 \ll\sum_{p \leq x} f_1(p) \ll x (\log x)^2 \log \log x. \] \[ x (\log x)^2 \ll \sum_{p \leq x} f_2(p) \ll x (\log x)^2. \] \[ x (\log x)^3 \ll\sum_{n \leq x} f_1(n) \ll x (\log x)^3. \] \[ x (\log x)^3 \ll \sum_{n \leq x} f_2(n) \ll x (\log x)^3. \]
