The paper studies relations between the topological stable ranks and Bass stable ranks of a commutative unital Banach algebra \(A\) and its integral extension \(B\) or its simple ring extension \(A_\alpha\) generated by a monic polynomial \(\alpha\). Moreover, it is shown that the covering dimensions of the maximal ideal spaces of such algebras are equal. The Bass stable ranks are shown to be equal under the condition that both algebras \(A\) and \(B\) are regular. The topological stable ranks satisfy the conditions \(\mathrm{tsr}(A)\leqslant \mathrm{tsr} (A_\alpha)\) and \(\mathrm{tsr}(A)\leqslant \mathrm{tsr}(B)\), where the equality holds in case \(\alpha\) is separable.
