The classical question of scissors congruence concerns the subdivisions of polyhedra. Scissors congruence groups have traditionally been expressed algebraically in terms of group homology. In this paper the author gave an alternate construction of these groups by producing them as the 0-level in the algebraic \(K\)-theory of a Waldhausen category. In addition, the author also gave some examples of the kinds of spectra we can produce.
