The eddy current problem with a power law conductivity term (Ohm's law) with or without a Bean critical-state modification is studied in a bounded Lipschitz domain with a totally reflecting boundary. Due to the choice of the non-linear Ohm's law the magnetic field \(H\) is naturally situated in \(L^{p}\left(\Omega\right)\), \(p\in]1,\infty[\). Well-posedness is approached within the framework of variational inequalities, which in the Bean model case involves an additional convex constraint. In particular the long time limit to static solutions and also the limiting process as \(p\to\infty\) are the focus of this paper. \(L^{2}\)-convergence to the static solution is obtained. In the limit \(p\to\infty\) convergence to the solution of a limiting variational inequality is established.
