The author classifies absolutely split locally free sheaves on Brauer-Severi varieties of index two. Recall that a scheme \(X\) over a field \(k\) is a Brauer-Severi variety if there is an isomorphism \(X\otimes_k \overline{k} \cong \mathbb{P}^n_{\overline{k}}\) for some integer \(n\). A locally free sheaf \(E\) on \(X\) is absolutely split of the sheaf \(E\otimes_k \overline{k}\) splits on projective space. The author classifies absolutely split locally free sheaves on \(X\) in terms of an indecomposable sheaf \(V\) (see Theorem 5.1). The sheaf \(V\) is defined as follows: Let \(L\) be an ample generator of \(\mathrm{Pic}(X\otimes_k \overline{k})\) and let \(\pi:X\otimes_k \overline{k} \rightarrow X\) be the projection. By definition \(V=\pi_*L\). Let \(O_X(2)\) be a generator of \(\mathrm{Pic}(X)\). It follows an absolutely split locally free sheaf \(A\) on \(X\) is on the following form: \(A=(\bigoplus_{i=1}^r O_X(2)^{\otimes a_i} )\oplus ( \bigoplus_{j=1}^s O_X(2)^{\otimes b_j}\otimes V)\). The paper gives an introduction to the theory of Brauer-Severi varieties and central simple algebras and sketches a proof of the correspondence between central simple algebras of dimension \(n\) and central simple algebras of degree \(n+1\). Tha author also discusses several invariants of Brauer-Severi varieties and invariants of central simple algebras. These invariants are used in the proof of the main theorem. The author gives a cohomological criterion for a locally free sheaf \(E\) to be absolutely split and the paper ends with some Corollaries where the author relates the main result of the paper to known results by other authors (Biswas and Nagaraj).
