    The purpose of introducing and studying spectral automorphisms in orthomodular lattices has been to construct something similar to the Hilbert space spectral theory without using the specific instruments available in a Hilbert space setting. An automorphism \(\varphi\) of an orthomodular lattice is called \textit{spectral} if there is a Boolean subalgebra \(B\) such that \(\varphi(a)=a \iff a\) commutes with all elements of~\(B\). This notion has been first studied in [\textit{A. Ivanov} and \textit{D. Caragheorgheopol}, ``Spectral automorphisms in quantum logics'', Int. J. Theor. Phys. 49, No. 12, 3146--3152 (2010; Zbl 1204.81014)]. The authors clarify the relation of spectral automorphisms to known constructions with orthomodular lattices -- products and horizontal sums. They also give a characterization of spectral automorphisms. Then this notion is extended to families of automorphisms and an analogue of the Stone theorem concerning strongly continuous uniparametric groups of unitary operators is formulated and proved.
