The author considers an SEIR disease model which incorporates both the age structure of the host population and the seasonality of the disease. The model turns out to be a periodic system with delay. Assuming that the birth function is increasing with respect to the total adult population and using the recently developed theory on the basic reproduction number for periodic systems, the author establishes the threshold dynamics for the model in terms of the basic reproduction number \(\mathcal{R}_0\): when \(\mathcal{R}_0<1\), the disease dies out; when \(\mathcal{R}_0>1\), the disease is uniformly persistent.
