The paper gives some fractal analysis of three interesting sets arising from geodesic excursions into cuspidal regions of negatively curved surfaces associated to finitely generated Fuchsian groups with parabolic elements. The first set is the so-called \((\tau,\kappa)\)-Good set (named after I. J. Good, who considered an analogous set for continued fractions), which represents geodesic movements with infinitely many visits into the cuspidal regions such that each of these visits is of hyperbolic length at least \(\tau>0\) and such that after each of these visits, the geodesic spends at most the hyperbolic time \(\kappa >0\) outside the cuspidal regions. Theorem 1 of the paper establishes that for arbitrary \(\kappa>0\) and for \(\tau\) tending to infinity, the Hausdorff dimension of the \((\tau,\kappa)\)-Good set tends to \(1/2\). The second set under consideration is the so-called strict \((\theta,\kappa)\)-Jarnik set. This set represents geodesic movements with infinitely many visits into the cuspidal regions such that after each visit the geodesic spends at most the hyperbolic time \(\kappa >0\) outside the cuspidal regions and the Limes superior of the depth of the \(n\)-th excursion divided by the total hyperbolic time to get to this \(n\)-th excursion is equal to \(\theta \in [0,1]\), for \(n\) tending to infinity. Theorem 2 states that for arbitrary \(\kappa>0\), the Hausdorff dimension of the strict \((\theta,\kappa)\)-Jarnik set is equal to \((1-\theta)/2\). The third and final result considers the so-called strict \(\beta\)-strict-Jarnik level sets. These sets are given by elements of the limit set of the Fuchsian group at which the corresponding Patterson measure scales in a certain way, depending on \(\beta >0\). Theorem 3 of the paper shows that for \(\beta \in [2 \delta -1, \delta]\), where \(\delta \in (1/2,1)\) refers to the Poincaré exponent of the Fuchsian group the Hausdorff dimension of the strict \(\beta\)-strict-Jarnik level set is equal to \((1+ \beta -2\delta)/(2 (1-\delta))\). The paper is very well written and pleasant to read.
