In order to measure \textit{differential} relations among the solutions of a linear \textit{difference} system, Hardouin and Singer devised a specific Galois theory in which the Galois group is a differential algebraic group in the sense of Kolchin. In the present paper, Di Vizio and Hardouin somehow generalize that theory while fixing some defects (like the need to go to the differential algebraic closure of the base field, a much too huge extension, here replaced by the algebraic closure). They apply their theory to deformations of \(q\)-series, allowing to study at the same time differential dependence with respect to the derivations \(x\, d/dx\) and \(q\, d/dq\). Last, they give an interpretation of the parameterized Galois group of the Jacobi Theta function in terms of the heat equation.
