This paper is concerned with the construction of solutions of self-adjoint second order linear elliptic equations where the unknown function is required to take specific values on the sides of a non-self-intersecting closed curve in a two dimensional region. The main results of this paper describe the interface eigenvalue problem, a spectral characterization of the interface spaces and the spectral expansion of the solution of elliptic problems with immersed constraints. Numerical simulations of the interface eigenvalues and eigenfunctions are discussed in the final section of the present paper.
