      The author considers the initial value problem to \(b\)-family equation NEWLINE\[NEWLINE \partial _tu+u\partial _xu+(1-\partial _x^2u)^{-1}\partial _x\left [\frac {b}{2}u^2+\frac {3-b}{2}(\partial _xu)^2\right ]=0 NEWLINE\]NEWLINE on the torus \(\mathbb {T}\). He defines approximate solutions, estimates the \(H^s(\mathbb {T})\)-norm of their errors and constructs two sequences of initial data which demonstrate a non-uniform continuity of the data-to-solution map from \(H^s(\mathbb {T})\) to \(C([0,T];H^s(\mathbb {T})\). Furthermore, he proves the Hölder continuity of the data-to-solution map from \(B(0,\rho )\subset H^s(\mathbb {T})\) to \(C([0,T];H^r(\mathbb {T})\), where \(s>3/2\) and \(0\leq r<s\).
