The book presents an elementary introduction into different parts of real geometry such as Euclidean and non-Euclidean planes, projective geometry, Möbius planes etc. The level is that of an undergraduate geometry course, but the concepts are modern: For example Klein's Erlanger Programm is introduced and applied explicitly. The author emphasizes that non-Euclidean geometries appear to be the geometry of physically reality. While most chapters prefer analytic methods the synthetic methods are not neglected: Chapters 24, 25 present Hilbert's and Bachmann's axioms. The book gives good motivations, it contains many good illustrations and causes the impression that geometry is a fascinating and important subject with results of great beauty.
