Oscillation criteria are derived for nonlinear functional-differential equations of type \[ -(r| y'|^{\alpha- 1}y')'= \lambda pf(y,y(g))\leqno{(1)_\lambda} \] in an interval \(I= [t_0,\infty)\), \(t_0\geq 0\), where \(a\), \(\lambda\) denote positive constants, \(f\in C(\mathbb{R}^2, \mathbb{R})\), \(p,g\in C(I,\mathbb{R})\), \(r\in C^1(I, \mathbb{R}_+)\), \(sf(s, u)> 0\) for \(su> 0\), \(g(t)\to +\infty\) as \(t\to\infty\), \(p(t)\not\equiv 0\) near \(\infty\), \(r(t)> 0\), \(r'(t)\geq 0\) in \(I\), and \(\int^\infty r^{-1/a}= +\infty\). Three oscillation criteria are proved for \((1)_1\). Two additional theorems provide sufficient conditions for \((1)_\lambda\) to be oscillatory for all \(\lambda>0\). The results extend or improve those of \textit{J. Yan} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 122, 380-384 (1987; Zbl 0626.34077); Int. J. Math. Sci. 13, No. 1, 151-158 (1990; Zbl 0755.34067)].
