The Hardy-Sobolev space \(H^{k,2}(\mathbb{D})\), where \(k\) is an integer greater than or equal to one, is the set of functions \[ H^{k,2}:=\big\{f\in H^2: f^{(j)}\in H^2\quad\text{for}\quad j=1,\ldots,k\big\}, \] where \(H^2\) is the usual Hardy space of analytic functions on \(\mathbb{D}\). A norm is placed on this space by \[ \left\| f\right\|_{k,2}^2:=\sum_{j=0}^k\big\| f^{(j)}\big\|^2_2 \] with \(\left\|\cdot\right\|_{2}\) the usual Hardy space norm. Let \(B_{k,2}\) denote the unit ball in \(H^{k,2}\). For a subarc \(I\) of the unit circle \(\mathbb{T}\) of length \(2\pi\lambda\), \(\lambda\in(0,1)\), set \[ \left\| f\right\|_{2,I}^2=\frac{1}{2\pi\lambda}\int_{I}\left| f(\xi)\right|^2 d\xi \] for the \(L^2\) norm of \(f\) on \(I\). The authors then prove the following statement: Let \(k\geq 1\) be an integer. Then there exist two positive constants \(\alpha_k\) and \(\gamma_k\), depending only on \(k\), such that for all functions with \(f\in B_{k,2}\) that satisfy \(\left\| f\right\|_{2,I}\leq e^{-\frac{\gamma_k}{\lambda}}\), \(I\) a given subarc of \(\mathbb{T}\) of length \(2\pi\lambda\), \[ \left\| f\right\|_2\leq\frac{\alpha_k}{\left(\lambda\log\frac{1}{\left\| f\right\|_{2,I}}\right)^k}. \] This result is then shown to be optimal in the estimate obtained. To demonstrate this, the authors consider a sequence of normalized polynomials and the case when \(I\) is the right-half semi-circle. Furthermore, the result obtained is an improvement of a related result in the case \(k=1\) of \textit{L. Baratchart} and \textit{M. Zerner} [J. Comput. Appl. Math. 46, No. 1--2, 255--269 (1993; Zbl 0818.65017)]. The authors then use this result to derive logarithmic stability results for the inverse problem of identifying Robin's coefficients in corrosion detection by electrostatic boundary measurements and for a recovery interpolation scheme in the Hardy-Sobolev space \(H^{k,2}\) with interpolation points located on the boundary \(\mathbb{T}\) of the unit disc \(\mathbb{D}\).
