A note on multiplication and composition operators in Lorentz spaces (Q442595)

Summary: We revisit the Lorentz spaces \(L(p, q)\) for \(p > 1\), \(q > 0\), which were defined by G.\,G.\thinspace Lorentz in the 1950s, and we show how the atomic decomposition of the spaces \(L(p, 1)\) obtained by \textit{G. De Souza} [``A new characterization of the Lorentz spaces \(L(p,1)\) for \(p>1\) and applications'', in: Proceedings of the Real Analysis Exchange, 55--58 (2010)] can be used to characterize the multiplication and composition operators on these spaces. These characterizations, though obtained from a completely different perspective, confirm the various results obtained by \textit{S. C. Arora}, \textit{G. Datt} and \textit{S. Verma} in different variants of the Lorentz spaces [Int. J. Math. Anal., Ruse 1, No.~ 25--28, 1227--1234 (2007; Zbl 1160.47023); Bull. Aust. Math. Soc. 76, No.~2, 205--214 (2007; Zbl 1138.47016); Osaka J. Math. 45, No.~3, 629--641 (2008; Zbl 1165.47023)].
