A binary self-dual code is a linear subspace \(C\) of \(F_2^n\) that satisfies \(C=C^\perp.\) The authors give a complete classification of self-dual codes of length \(36\). Specifically, they prove that there are 519492 inequivalent self-dual codes of length 36 of which 41 are extremal, 58671 have minimum weight 6, 436633 have minimum weight 4, and 24147 have minimum weight 2.
