The authors investigate the existence and properties of entire positive solutions for semilinear elliptic equations \(\Delta u=\rho(x)f(u)\) in \(\mathbb R^D\) with \(D \geq 3\). Assuming that \(f\) and \(\rho\) are \(C^1\) functions, \(f(0)= 0\) and \(f(t)>0\) for \(t>0\), and \(\lim_{|x|\to \infty}\int_{\mathbb R^D}|x-y|^{2-D}\rho(y)dy=0\), then for any \(\beta \in (0,\infty]\) there exists a solution such that \(\lim_{|x|\to \infty} u(x) = \beta\). The asymptotic behavior of solutions at infinity is studied. It is shown that every bounded solution has a limit at infinity, and conditions on \(f\) and \(\rho\) are given so that unbounded solutions are entire large solutions (\(\lim_{|x|\to \infty} u(x) = \infty\)). Finally, the existence and uniqueness of entire large solutions is analyzed.
