The paper under review is a continuation of the authors' study of rationally cubic connected (RCC) varieties, namely varieties for which a general pair of points can be connected by a cubic rational curve. In their paper [J. Math. Soc. Japan 64, No. 3, 941--967 (2012; Zbl 1260.14064)], they studied RCC varieties which are covered by lines. In the paper under review, they deal with the case when the variety is not covered by lines. The main result can described as follows. Let \((X,H)\) be an RCC variety not covered by lines, then \((X,H)\) is the blow-up of some RCC variety \((X',H')\) along smooth centers. If we assume furthermore that \(X\) is Fano with Picard number at least \(3\), then \(X'\) is the projective space and a list of all possible \(X\) was obtained.
