The authors discuss in this article particular substructures of finite projective spaces.NEWLINENEWLINEIn 1847, Franz Seydewitz presented a method to generate quadrics. Using a variation of the method of Seydewitz of projective generation of quadrics, the authors define two algebraic surfaces of \(\mathrm{PG}(3,q^2)\), called the elliptic \({\mathcal Q}_F\)-sets and the semi-hyperbolic \({\mathcal Q}_F\)-sets. They then show that these algebraic surfaces are contained in the Hermitian surface \(H(3,q^2)\) of \(\mathrm{PG}(3,q^2)\).NEWLINENEWLINEMoreover, they characterize a semi-hyperbolic \({\mathcal Q}_F\)-set as the intersection of two Hermitian surfaces.NEWLINENEWLINETo conclude, they describe all the possible configurations of the absolute set of an \(\alpha\)-correlation in \(\mathrm{PG}(2,q^2)\), where \(\alpha\) is the involutory automorphism of \(\mathbb{F}_{q^2}\).
