    According to \textit{H. Karzel} [Symp. Math. 11, 413--439 (1973; Zbl 0284.50017)], the left and right Clifford parallelisms of \(\text{PG}(3,\mathbf R)\) are describable by left and right multiplication of the Hamilton quaternions \(H(\mathbf R)\). The authors replace the reals \(\mathbf R\) with a (commutative) field \(\mathbf F\) of arbitrary characteristic and \(H(\mathbf R)\) with a quaternion algebra over \(\mathbf F\). In particular they study the case where \(\mathbf F\) admits different quadratic extensions. For a fixed quadratic extension \(\mathbf L\) of \(\mathbf F\), any left parallel class is indicated by a line \(I\), hence this left parallel class is denoted by \({\mathcal S}(I)\), and \(I\) is a line of a regulus \({\mathcal R}_{\mathbf L}\) on a hyperbolic quadric \({\mathcal Q}_{\mathbf L}\) of \(\text{PG}(3,\mathbf L)\) which carries no point of \(\text{PG}(3,\mathbf F)\); moreover, \({\mathcal S}(I)\) is a regular spread of \(\text{PG}(3,\mathbf F)\). If \(I\) varies in the regulus \({\mathcal R}_{\mathbf L}\), then \(\{{\mathcal S}(I)\,\,|\,\,I\in{\mathcal R}_{\mathbf L}\}\) is, in contrast to the classical case \(\mathbf F=\mathbf R\), a \textit{partial} parallelism of \(\text{PG}(3,\mathbf F)\). Any right parallel class is indicated by a line of the opposite regulus \({\mathcal R}_{\mathbf L}^{opp}\) of \({\mathcal R}_{\mathbf L}\). To get a (complete) parallelism of \(\text{PG}(3,\mathbf F)\), the authors use the quadratic closure \(\hat{\mathbf F}\) of \(\mathbf F\) which contains all quadratic extensions of \(\mathbf F\). Then the generalized left Clifford parallelism of \(\text{PG}(3,\mathbf F)\) is \[ \{\mathcal S(I)\mid I\in{\mathcal R}_{\mathbf L},\, {\mathbf L}/{\mathbf F}\text{ quadratic extension}\}; \] for the generalized right Clifford parallelism of \(\text{PG}(3,\mathbf F)\) replace in the formula above \({\mathcal R}_{\mathbf L}\) with \({\mathcal R}_{\mathbf L}^{opp}\). Via an appropriate family \(\mathcal F\) of quadratic extensions \(\mathbf L\) of \(\mathbf F\), the authors form a ``Clifford-like'' parallelism \[ \{\mathcal S(I)\mid I\in{\mathcal R}_{\mathbf L},\, {\mathbf L}/{\mathbf F}\text{ quadratic extension},\,{\mathbf L}\not\in{\mathcal F}\} \cup \{\mathcal S(I)\mid I\in{\mathcal R}_{\mathbf L}^{opp},\, {\mathbf L}\in{\mathcal F}\}. \]
