The paper deals with blow-up phenomena for solutions to reaction-diffusion systems coupled through nonlinearities with nonlinear boundary conditions of the type \[ \begin{cases} \Delta u+f_1(u,v)=u_t & \text{in}\;\Omega\times(0,t^*),\\ \Delta v+f_2(u,v)=v_t & \text{in}\;\Omega\times(0,t^*),\\ {{\partial u}\over {\partial\nu}}(x,t)=g_1(u) & \text{on}\;\partial\Omega\times(0,t^*),\\ {{\partial v}\over {\partial\nu}}(x,t)=g_2(v) & \text{on}\;\partial\Omega\times(0,t^*),\\ u(x,0)=u_0(x)\geq0\geq0 & \text{on}\;\Omega,\\ v(x,0)=v_0(x)\geq0 & \text{on}\;\Omega, \end{cases} \] where \(\Omega\subset\mathbb R^N\) is a bounded and smooth domain with outward normal \(\nu\) to the boundary and the smooth data satisfy the standard compatibility conditions. By using a differential inequality technique, the authors derive upper and lower bounds for the blow-up time, if blow-up occurs. Moreover, by introducing suitable auxiliary functions, sufficient conditions are imposed on the data in order to obtain global existence.
