Let \(H_{bs}(l_p)\) denote the algebra of symmetric analytic functions \(f:l_p \to \mathbb C\) of bounded type that are bounded on bounded sets, with the topology of uniform convergence on bounded sets. Let \(M_{bs}(l_p)\) denote its spectrum, that is, the set of all continuous scalar valued homomorphisms. When dealing with symmetric analytic functions, the translation operators are not well defined anymore, and therefore the authors introduced in [Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 55, No. 1, 125--142 (2012; Zbl 1243.46039)] the so-called ``intertwining'' operators and defined a ``symmetric'' convolution operator. In the paper under review, it is proved that an endomorphism of \(H_{bs}(l_p)\) commutes with all intertwining operators if and only if it is a convolution operator. Further, it is shown, contrary to the non-symmetric case, that the symmetric convolution is commutative. For \(p=1\), a representation of the spectrum \(M_{bs}(l_1)\) in terms of entire functions of exponential type is obtained which allows the authors to determine the invertible elements in \(M_{bs}(l_1)\) for symmetric convolution. Finally, the authors present a description of the elements in \(M_{bs}(l_1)\) through certain points in \(l^+_1\).
