This paper is devoted to the Strichartz estimate in \(\mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}^n\) \[ \|\exp(it\Delta)f; L^q_t(L^r_x)\|\leq C\|f; L^2_x\|\tag{\(*\)} \] (and its dual). That estimate is known to hold in the so-called admissible case \(0\leq 2/q= n/2- n/r< 1\). The author investigates the forbidden endpoint \((q,r,n)= (2,\infty,2)\) where that estimate fails to hold in general. The main result is that the corresponding estimate holds in that case if one replaces \(L^\infty_x(\mathbb{R}^2)\) by \(L^\infty_r(L^2_\theta)\) in polar coordinates \((r,\theta)\). In particular \((*)\) holds for radial functions. The proof involves a decomposition of \(f\) in circular harmonics, the representation of each term through Bessel functions, and dyadic decompositions. As a corollary, the author also proves the similarly modified version of the endpoint to an admissible naturally associated retarded estimate.
