Absence of positive roots of sextic polynomials (Q449586)

The authors consider monic sextic polynomials \(\lambda^6+a\lambda^5+b\lambda^4+c\lambda^3+d\lambda^2+\alpha \lambda +\beta\) and give necessary and sufficient conditions on the real coefficients \(a,b,c,d,\alpha,\beta\) such that the polynomial does not have any positive root. The conditions are expressed in terms of roots of quartic polynomials and geometry of explicit parametric curves.
