This monograph presents a comprehensive theory of multiple layer potential operators encountered in the study of boundary value problems for higher order elliptic operators. The first chapter presents an overview of the book and chapter two deals with the smoothness scales and the Calderon-Zygmund theory in the scalar-valued case. The third chapter is concerned with function spaces of Whitney arrays. Chapter four and five of the monograph present the double (resp. simple) multi-layer potential operators associated with arbitrary elliptic higher order homogeneous matrix-valued coefficients. Chapter six of the book is concerned with functional analytic properties of multi-layer potentials and their applications to the study of boundary value problems. In the first part of this chapter the authors develop the Fredholm theory for multi-layer potentials introduced in the previous chapters, and then this theory is used to obtain the well posedness of boundary value problems.
